Las Vegas Strip Leads July Game Sales Down As Nevada Drops 15%
Las Vegas Strip's game-winning percentage fell 15% in July 2024, the first drop in total state game revenue in four months, according to a statement released by the Nevada Gaming Commission on Wednesday, Aug. 28. Despite the recession, the total win rate for July was $1.3 billion, a significant increase from July 2023, when it hit a monthly high of $1.4 billion.
Contextualization of declining game sales:
Michael Lawton, chief economist at the Gaming Commission, explained that the decline should not be considered the beginning of a downtrend. "July 2023 was a very difficult comparison, as we recorded the second-highest winning percentage in state and strip history due to a very difficult baccarat comparison involving holds," he explained. The share of casinos known as table holds in table games reached a nearly 37-year high of 14.39% this year, compared to 17.62% last year. Notably, baccarat's hold rate, which is said to be highly volatile, was 23.52%, the highest since June 2003. 홀짝게임
Streep has experienced a recession but painted a different picture elsewhere. Sales at its downtown Las Vegas casino rose 9.9% to $71.8 million. Similarly, the outskirts of Clark County, which includes the newly opened Durango Casino in southwestern Las Vegas, also rose 19% to $171.2 million. Meanwhile, the Sparks were up 11.4% and the North Lake Taho was up 14.1%, while the South Lake Taho remained flat.
